A young Berlin author, simultaneously confronted with the closure of the collection in which she was certain her first novel would be published, and her boyfriend's decision to end their relationship, she intends to take a step back from the family home. Accompanied by her little brother, a gifted pianist also plagued by doubts, she flies to the Spanish island of Lanzarote. But while the siblings imagined they would find an empty house, a squatter has taken up residence there: their father, a successful author, who had left their lives fifteen years earlier.
